Regional (Mid-Hudson) COVID-19 Metrics

You can track our regional COVID-19 metrics progress at the Regional dashboard here. As of today, the Mid-Hudson region has met 5/7 criteria for re-opening. We still need to achieve a 14 day decline in Decline in Deaths and New Hospitalizations, which needs to be under 2 per 100K residents and we are currently at 2.79. We are expected to meet Contact Tracing Capacity (30 per 100K residents) very soon.

While we await further guidance from our state and county leaders for more specifics about re-opening plans, local leaders want to hear about your concerns, circumstances, and needs moving forward. Please join representatives from the Village and Town of New Paltz, live on YouTube on Thursday, May 14th, from 3:00-4:30 PM, as we gather and discuss questions regarding the next steps we will take as a community. Real-time viewers will be able to submit written questions and comments through the YouTube “chat” feature, and residents are also encouraged to submit written questions prior to the meeting via this form.

This community forum will better inform what we need to communicate to county and state leadership. This community feedback will also be essential to the formulation of our local plan for our next steps in coordination with county and state guidelines.

Public Notice: Peace Park Event

As Covid-19 has taken people and places from us it has also taken the ways in which we celebrate and say goodbye. We may not be able to share a physical space, but we can build new ways to come together to grieve, share concern, and look forward with hope. Starting tomorrow (May 8th), Fridays at noon, we will be having a weekly Public Expression of Grief and Hope ritual at Peace Park which will run live on local Channel 23 and be live-streamed to our Public Access YouTube page (and available for later viewing). Thank you Reverend Jennifer Berry for initiating and making this wonderful idea happen.

Please note that this is being live-streamed in order to reach the community while still adhering to social distancing guidelines. Please participate in this event from the safety of your own home!

Social Distancing Update: Mask Distribution

As previously announced, our New Paltz police officers have been patrolling our trails and public spaces while handing out washable, reusable cloth face masks. Trustee William Murray and our police are also bringing masks to households that have requested delivery. Mayor Tim Rogers and Deputy Mayor KT Tobin were out this past weekend handing out free masks on Main Street and our trails. Thank you to everyone who has been compliant with the vital social distancing we need right now.

Free, washable, reusable masks can also be picked up at these locations/times:

* Family of New Paltz 10 AM to 5 PM, Monday-Friday. (51 N. Chestnut St)

* New Paltz Police Station at any time. (83 South Putt Corners Road)

* Food Not Bombs 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM, Wednesdays. (29 Main Street, across from Wells Fargo)
